Track Lost iPhone-How It Works

Cell phone tracking requires a smart phone such as the iPhone, tracking technology, and tracking software.

There are many good smart phones. We need one that supports third-party software (software not developed by Apple or the users and available to all iPhone users). A big screen for displaying the map is also desirable. The iPhone enables third-party software and provides an excellent screen for displaying innovative new software. These are some of the reasons we chose the iPhone for aPhoneTracker. To be more technical, the iPhone provides excellent hardware and a great software platform for developing our own software.

Most people recognize GPS as a tracking technology. And GPS is good for many applications - especially in the great outdoors where there is a lot of open sky to see the satellites. However, indoors and in cities where it is difficult to see the satellites there are better ways of calculating your position. aPhoneTracker's location technology calculates your position based on cell and WiFi 'towers'. In populated areas, there are many cell and WiFi towers. In these areas, WiFi tracking is usually accurate to within 60 feet (20 metres).

As a user, you carry your smartphone with you. The tracking software uses the tracking technology to calculate your position and records it on a central server. So you can see your location on a map and your friends and family see you too.

There are many uses for cell phone trackers. You can find your lost phone, track friends and family - in case they get lost or need your help. Or use it just to stay connected!
