Lets Anyone Read Your Old Text Messages

Thought you were safe by deleting those texts from your secret lover as soon as you received them, or by hiding them under a docile-sounding address book entry? Think again, shady, because a new device promises to find and restore those deleted texts, pull the contents of your address book, and then transfer the lot to any computer with a USB port.

The device is called the Cell Phone Spy. It's a $150 reader for SIM cards, which most phones use to store information about contacts and text messages. As is the case with many computer technologies, a "deleted" file isn't truly gone, just flagged as no longer needed. This reader, and the software it comes with, is able to locate those deleted files and recover them, meaning that the booty text you sent last night and promptly deleted can be restored for all to see.

The device could also be useful for those looking to back up their contacts or transfer them to a new phone, but without a doubt, the primary push here is snooping, so if you've been witness to some suspicious cell phone activity lately, you might want to get yourself one of these.
